Why I Practice Family Law? I practice family law because I want to contribute in a tangible way. I want to be a witness and an active participant in the transformation of my client’s lives.I want to know that I’ve made a difference to the life of my client, and that I’ve helped them move beyond what might potentially have been the worst period of their life. I want to be challenged, and be forced to persuade people to adopt a more positive perspective, to prioritise their own wellbeing and to face the implications of choosing to remain entrenched in negative emotion. I believe that good people break up, and sometimes the fear that accompanies that occurring can change how my clients behave and even see themselves. I want to be a consistent presence in my client’s lives even when they’re not at their best, and not very lovable.I want to advocate for my client but also importantly the most appropriate outcome in the circumstances. I want to empower my clients to believe that they should be striving for what they genuinely believe is right for themselves and their children. And finally, and equally significantly, I want to work with colleagues that feel the same way I do about using our legal skills, which are so clinical and analytical by nature, to achieve outcomes that are far more colourful and meaningful.
