Luke Steel

Luke is a Legal Partner at Best Wilson Buckley and leads the firm’s Brisbane office.

Luke has practised exclusively in family law since 2003. With over 15 years of family law experience in firms throughout Brisbane, Luke possesses an intimate knowledge of the family law fraternity and associated Courts that benefits clients attempting to navigate this complex system.

It is incredibly important to Luke that each client is considered as an individual and that the legal approach fits their situation. His extensive experience in this area of the law enable him to tailor his approach to each unique client he interacts with, and he aims to practise in such a way that reduces stress and protects the financial wellbeing of his clients and the future of any children involved. This approach also overcomes geographical boundaries and Luke regularly supports clients right across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Europe, and North America where applicable and appropriate.

In addition to his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland, Luke holds a Bachelor of Business (Communications) from the Queensland University of Technology and taught English in Japan for a number of years. Luke is also a regular volunteer with the Caxton Legal Service where he provides free legal advice to members of his local community, and the Ecumenical Coffee Brigade where he assists in feeding Brisbane’s homeless.

Expertise and Professional Qualifications

With over 15 years of experience practising exclusively in family law firms throughout Brisbane, Luke has gained a depth and breadth of experience that enables him to facilitate the best outcome for each unique family he works with. He is well-versed in resolving complex property settlement matters involving the division or protection of assets, spousal maintenance, and preparing Financial Agreements. Luke’s experience extends to other areas of family law including parenting matters where he assists his clients with arrangements and time with children, relocation, adoption and child support, and domestic and family violence matters. He is also an experienced surrogacy lawyer and finds great reward in acting for intended parents and birth mothers in this area of the law.
