Hi there, I’m Sophie.

I’m an Ipswich family lawyer, Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, and family law mediator at Best Wilson Buckley.

My legal career started at the age of 14 when I undertook work experience at a barristers chambers in the UK. I fell in love with the law almost immediately, and since my admission to the Australian legal profession in 2016 I have gained experience across both private and community legal settings.

Although I initially commenced practice as a generalist lawyer, I quickly found my niche working predominately in domestic violence and family law. I’ve been a member of the Best Wilson Buckley team since early 2022 and enjoy providing members of our community with well-informed, specialist family law advice.

My accreditation as both a mediator and Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) Practitioner in addition to my experience as a family lawyer means that my clients are provided with practical, holistic, and specialist legal services. It also means I am hard-wired to work with my clients in a way that is geared towards resolution, rather than costly litigation where possible.

As an experienced and dedicated family lawyer, I am knowledgeable across all areas of family law including complex property and parenting matters, child protection, and domestic and family violence. I possess an intricate knowledge of the family law system and am able to decipher the legislation and how it applies to each of my client’s circumstances.

Why family law?

The clients we work with as family lawyers often approach us at times when their lives have been impacted in so many ways; financially, emotionally and socially. The impact we can have as their trusted advisor as we guide them towards their “new normal” is ever-lasting. I find great satisfaction in helping people during times of need. My favourite part of my job is reaching a resolution for clients and knowing that the outcome achieved is long-lasting.
