Katrina Potter

Katrina is a Senior Solicitor in Best Wilson Buckley Family Law’s Toowoomba office.

Katrina has over 20 years of experience in the areas of family and criminal law, firstly as an Articled Clerk in private practice, as an Associate to Her Honour Judge Richards, and then ultimately as a practising solicitor following her admission in 2008. Prior to joining Best Wilson Buckley Family Law, she worked in a number of roles, firstly for the Director of Public Prosecutions and then within a not-for-profit organisation in Toowoomba. This unique blend of government, not-for-profit, and private practice experience has gifted Katrina with an in-depth knowledge of complex legal systems together with incredible advocacy skills.

Katrina has a history of consistently achieving positive outcomes for her clients in Court, but more regularly by agreement without costly and emotionally-exhausting litigation. Her clients routinely benefit from her well-rounded approach and her extensive experience in this niche area of the law. Katrina’s focus is always on ensuring her clients are well-informed and supported as they work towards an optimal resolution.

In addition to her Bachelor of Laws from the Queensland University of Technology and her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, Katrina has completed a number of leadership and practice management courses through Focus HR and the Queensland Law Society. Katrina combines her formal education and practical experience to provide leadership and support to her clients and colleagues alike.

Expertise and Professional Qualifications

Katrina has over 20 years of experience in the areas of family and criminal law across the government, not-for-profit, and private practice sectors. Combining these experiences has gifted her with an extensive and invaluable knowledge of legal systems and she is well-versed in all areas of family law, including the resolution of complex property settlement matters and parenting matters. Her experience in the Director of Public Prosecution’s office, in particular, has provided Katrina with both an intimate knowledge of Court systems and processes, specifically relating to cases of domestic and family violence. This experience allows Katrina to analyse and respond to the impacts of domestic violence proceedings on family law matters, ensuring her clients are well informed throughout all stages of their matter.
