– Family Law Mediations

Resolving Conflict, Restoring Hope

What is Mediation?

When you’re facing a family dispute, it can feel overwhelming and uncertain. The stress of unresolved issues can take a toll on everyone involved.

At BWB Mediations we help you move forward without the expense and stress of court. Mediation gives you a chance to have open, guided conversations in a safe space, where both sides can be heard. With the help of a neutral mediator, you’ll explore options and work toward a fair, practical solution that works for everyone—especially when children are involved. Our goal is to help you find clarity, resolution, and a better path forward.

Our Mediation Services

The Benefits of Using a Family Law Mediator?

Our family law mediators are also family lawyers. We’re determined to change the way people experience family separation and its intersection with the law. Mediation is one way we do this. Our aim is to help you resolve issues through a mediation process to avoid lengthy, expensive, and emotionally exhausting court proceedings.

We can assist:

  • Self-represented people seeking assistance to finalise their matter through mediation.

  • Lawyers seeking experienced family law mediators that understand this area of the law and want the best possible outcome for their client.

What is the Process?

1. Get Started

Confirm that everyone agrees to mediation and choose the package that suits you.

2. Prepare

Complete a personal intake interview with the mediator and finalise your booking.

3. Mediate & Resolve

Attend your mediation session and work towards an agreement, with help drafting it if needed.

Which Type of Mediation Do You Need?

You can attend mediation with or without a lawyer

You don’t need to have a lawyer to attend mediation. Our role as mediators is to help guide productive discussions and support you in finding a resolution that works for everyone. While we can’t provide legal advice, we can absolutely assist you in working through the issues, even if neither you nor your spouse has a lawyer.

If you prefer, you’re also welcome to bring a lawyer to mediation. They can provide legal advice, support you through negotiations, and help you navigate the process with confidence.

The choice is entirely yours—whether you attend mediation on your own or with a lawyer, we’re here to help you every step of the way.

Mediation can take different formats, and we tailor the approach to suit your needs. The most common option is shuttle mediation, where each person is in a separate room (either in person or online), and the mediator moves between you, sharing information and proposals.

Alternatively, you may prefer joint mediation, where everyone is in the same room, allowing for direct discussions, with the mediator’s guidance.

The best format depends on your preferences, the issues being discussed, and what feels most comfortable for everyone involved. If there’s no agreement on the format, the mediator will decide on the best approach to ensure a productive and constructive process.
