Kara Best Appointed as Senior Judicial Registrar

The team at Best Wilson Buckley Family Law are incredibly proud of our own Kara Best on her appointment as a Senior Judicial Registrar in the newly amalgamated Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia effective 11 October 2021.
Kara was admitted to practice in 2001 and was one of the founding partners of Best Wilson Buckley in 2009. She has been an Accredited Specialist for more than 14 years, an ICL for more than a decade, and is a trained Mediator, Arbitrator, Collaborative Practitioner and Parenting Coordinator.
To the team at BWB, Kara has been our leader and friend for a long, long period of time, and this appointment is a beautiful recognition of her wholehearted devotion to the team and to each and every client.
It is also an incredibly exciting time for the new Court, and for the family law professionals who have yearned for systemic change and meaningful funding for these Courts for a long period of time. Kara’s new role will allow her to exercise delegated judicial power in the context of interim determinations impacting on families who come before the new amalgamated Court, engage in complex Case Management, and importantly utilise her mediation skills within the Court when afforded an opportunity to intervene in a more hands-on way. Her understanding of the challenges of a regional environment for clients and practitioners also offers a remarkable opportunity for insight and a more responsive court experience for all.
In light of the exciting news for our Kara Best becoming a Senior Judicial Registrar, we are pleased to announce that our Alecia Featherstone will be moving into the role of Legal Practice Director from Monday 11 October. Alecia has practised exclusively in family law since 2011. Prior to joining the Best Wilson Buckley team in 2016, she worked in firms across north Brisbane and has developed strong relationships with colleagues throughout the family law fraternity in Brisbane and surrounds. Alecia is energetic, affable, and approachable, and has a passion for working with clients to provide them with practical and easy to understand advice whilst being sensitive to the emotional and psychological difficulties associated with separation.
Whilst this is bittersweet news, we are beaming with pride for Kara and her appointment and are so excited for the future of Best Wilson Buckley under Alecia’s reigns.
