Elisabeth Fritz-Joughin
Hello, I'm Elisabeth.
I'm a Paralegal at Best Wilson Buckley Family Law's Brisbane Office.
Born and raised in Brisbane, I've spent my professional career working and volunteering throughout South East Queensland. My experience spans a range of practice areas, including family and domestic violence law, employment and industrial relations, migration law, and property law and conveyancing.
Before joining Best Wilson Buckley, I spent over three and a half years working as an Associate, most recently to an Industrial Commissioner at the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission. I have also worked as an Associate to Members of the former Administrative Appeals Tribunal, assisting with complex protection and partner visa matters, including those involving domestic and family violence.
Throughout my legal studies, I've been fortunate to gain valuable experience with community legal organisations, including Women's Legal Service Queensland and Bayside Community Legal Service. My time with Women's Legal Service Queensland involved supporting domestic violence duty lawyers, assisting on the statewide helpline and working alongside family and migration lawyers supporting temporary visa holders experiencing violence. These experiences strengthened my passion for advocacy and supporting people through challenging circumstances.
In September 2026, I graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), and I'm currently completing my Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at Queensland University of Technology. I'm also a qualified Justice of the Peace in Queensland.
Why Family Law?
I've always been drawn to people focused areas of law, where thoughtful communication, practical problem solving and genuine compassion can make a meaningful difference. I believe family law is an area where the ability to connect with people is just as important as understanding the legal complexities of their circumstances. Every client has their own story, and I find it incredibly rewarding to help people feel heard, understood and supported as they navigate what can be a particularly challenging time. Everyone deserves the right to have a supportive team beside them.
As an avid reader, I've always had a fascination with language and the way we communicate. I carry that interest into my professional life, where I believe that being able to explain complex legal matters clearly and thoughtfully can help provide clients with much needed clarity and confidence.
I would describe my approach as personable, practical and approachable, with a little good humour when the occasion calls for it. Throughout my previous roles, I've received positive feedback for my professionalism and ability to make stressful legal situations feel a little less daunting.
