Max Sutton

Hi, I’m Max.

I’m a Toowoomba family lawyer working across Best Wilson Buckley’s Toowoomba and Dalby offices. I’m also a family law mediator and a collaboratively trained family lawyer.

I’ve worked exclusively in the area of family law and with BWB since 2014, initially as an Administration Assistant, Office Manager, and then Paralegal before being admitted as a Solicitor in 2017. This experience has gifted me with a unique insight into our firm, and has refined my skills as a communicator and negotiator.

My extensive experience as a Toowoomba family lawyer includes assisting clients in all facets of family law, particularly domestic and family violence matters, parenting matters including those involving relocation and parental alienation, and property settlement matters involving spousal maintenance and complex business and trust structures. I regularly assist clients before, during, and after separation, getting to know and understand the needs and motivations of each person I work with to ensure I am providing them with the best possible service. I consider it an honour to support, guide, and help you through this change to your family circumstances.

Why family law?

Family law covers a wide range of practice and knowledge areas, and each client I work with is completely different. As such, I’m constantly challenged in how I operate to ensure the outcomes I’m working towards with my clients are structured to meet the unique circumstances of each family unit.

It is a rewarding and privileged experience to assist people navigate what can be a very difficult time during their life, and to provide them with clarity and certainty and guide them to the light at the end of the tunnel. The genuine focus on client wellbeing displayed by all members of the Best Wilson Buckley team also fuels my desire to practice in this area.

How do clients describe your approach?

My clients have described me as realistic, approachable, and accessible, and I pride myself on the way I am able to tailor my communication to each client I am fortunate enough to work with. My genuine and enthusiastic approach to working with my clients results in positive, constructive, and sustainable outcomes.

As a collaboratively trained lawyer, I will always work to protect the best interests of my clients and their family by resolving matters through an amicable agreement rather than litigation wherever practical, protecting them from the bitterness and financial burden that litigation often fosters.
